Shanleigh Thomson, hailing from Winnipeg, Canada, has spent 11 years in the alcoholic beverage industry, supported by a Masters in Food Science from Purdue University, a Master Brewers Certificate from UC Davis, and a certificate in Developmental Economics from the London School of Economics. Her diverse education has enabled her to work in varied roles, including a Liquid Commercialization Specialist for Diageo in Chicago, where she developed products such as Smirnoff and Crown Royal. She held roles as a brewer and production manager in Seattle, a representative for Pacific Northwest and New Zealand Hop Growers, and a supply chain analyst for Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries.

Shanleigh founded Shan.Ferments, a platform blending marketing, science, and storytelling, aimed at demystifying fermented beverages. She has worked with prominent companies like Agriculture Canada and passionately educates about malt, yeast, and ingredients in brewing. Outside her professional life, she enjoys traveling and is an advocate for mental health and workplace wellness.
