Thom Riley grew up in the Highlands of Scotland and has been in the BC beer industry for the last ten years. He completed a BSc in Astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh and an IBD Diploma in Brewing (one has proven to be more useful than the other!) He recently relocated from Vancouver to run operations as Brewery General Manager at Vancouver Island Brewing.
He started his career as one of the first employees at Bomber Brewing and was involved in everything from brewing through to packaging. From there he went on to the Steamworks production facility, where he held the position of Lead Brewer. For the last five years prior to joining VIB, Thom was with Labatt. During this time he commissioned and opened the Stanley Park Brewing Brewpub as Brewmaster, whilst developing and scaling multiple new brands. Laterally he ran brewing & blending operations at the Turning Point Brewery.
